LoL MMR Checker: What's My MMR?
MMR (matchmaking rating) is the hidden number League of Legends uses to pick your teammates, your opponents and how much LP you win or lose. Riot never shows it, but your results give it away. Enter your Riot ID and we read your rank and recent ranked games to estimate where your MMR sits compared to your visible rank.

What does my MMR result mean?
Your result tells you whether your hidden MMR is above, equal to or below your visible rank, and by how many divisions. Above means you'll climb faster than normal; below means LP will be harder to earn.
League of Legends keeps two numbers for you. Your rank and LP are what you see. Your MMR is what matchmaking uses. When the two drift apart, Riot nudges them back together through LP: bigger gains and smaller losses if your MMR is higher, the opposite if it's lower.
- MMR above your rank (+1 division or more): you're climbing. Keep queuing, your rank is catching up to where the game thinks you belong.
- MMR matches your rank: gains and losses are close to even. From here only your win rate moves you.
- MMR below your rank (−1 division or more): you'll lose more LP than you win. A short break, a champion you're comfortable on and a few wins in a row fix it faster than spamming games.
The MMR reference number puts your estimate on a familiar Elo-style scale so you can compare it with the table below. It is our approximation, not a number Riot publishes.
How does this LoL MMR checker work?
With your Riot ID we read your rank and your last 20 ranked games from Riot. Every 6 points of win rate above or below 50% moves your estimate about one division away from your visible rank. If you also add your LP per win and loss, the LP gap takes over: every 4 LP of difference is about one division.
Riot has explained in its ranked dev updates that LP gains are tied to the gap between your MMR and the average MMR of your current rank, and your MMR only moves when you win or lose. So the estimate is built on the two things you can actually see: results and LP.
- Start from your visible rank. Gold II with 50 LP sits halfway through Gold II on one continuous ladder from Iron IV to Challenger. With a Riot ID, this comes straight from Riot.
- Read your form. We blend your win rate over your last 20 ranked games (60%) with your whole split (40%). A 62% blend is about two divisions of MMR above your rank; 44% is about one below.
- Use your LP gap when you have it. Riot doesn't share LP changes per game, so this part is optional: +26 per win and −18 per loss is a gap of +8, about two divisions above your rank.
- Rate the confidence. Under 20 games this split is low confidence, 20 to 49 is medium, 50+ is high, because MMR settles once the system has enough games on you.
The method works the same for Solo/Duo and Flex, but each queue has its own MMR, so pick the queue you want to check and use the LP numbers from that queue. Learn more about tiers and queues on Riot's League of Legends support site.
| LP gap (win − loss) | Your MMR is |
|---|---|
| +12 or more LP | 3+ divisions above your rank |
| +8 to +11 LP | about 2 divisions above |
| +4 to +7 LP | about 1 division above |
| -3 to +3 LP | matches your rank |
| -7 to -4 LP | about 1 division below |
| -11 to -8 LP | about 2 divisions below |
| -12 or less LP | 3+ divisions below your rank |
What is the MMR of each rank in LoL?
On our Elo-style reference scale, Silver and Gold cover roughly 1,100 to 1,600 MMR, Diamond starts near 2,100 and Master near 2,400. Riot doesn't publish exact values, so treat these ranges as a reference, not official numbers.
| Rank | Divisions | MMR reference |
|---|---|---|
| Iron | IV, III, II, I | 600 – 849 |
| Bronze | IV, III, II, I | 850 – 1,099 |
| Silver | IV, III, II, I | 1,100 – 1,349 |
| Gold | IV, III, II, I | 1,350 – 1,599 |
| Platinum | IV, III, II, I | 1,600 – 1,849 |
| Emerald | IV, III, II, I | 1,850 – 2,099 |
| Diamond | IV, III, II, I | 2,100 – 2,399 |
| Master | None (LP only) | 2,400 – 2,599 |
| Grandmaster | None (LP only) | 2,600 – 2,799 |
| Challenger | None (LP only) | 2,800+ |
Why do I lose more LP than I gain?
You lose more LP than you gain when your MMR is lower than the average MMR of your rank. The game expects you to drop, so it charges more for losses and pays less for wins until your results prove it wrong.
The usual causes are easy to spot:
- A loss streak after a promotion. Your MMR fell while your rank stayed up thanks to demotion protection.
- Getting carried into a rank by a duo partner or a lucky run, so your MMR never followed.
- Decay in Diamond+ works the other way: your rank drops while your MMR stays, so gains go up when you come back.
- A new split. Early games after a reset move LP more than usual while the system re-measures everyone.
The fix is win rate, not volume. A 55% win rate over 20 games is enough to flip the gap back to even. If you're tilting, stop: each extra loss widens the gap.
Is MMR different in Solo/Duo, Flex, Normal and ARAM?
Yes. Each queue keeps its own MMR, so a strong Flex record doesn't help your Solo/Duo games and ARAM has nothing to do with ranked.
Ranked Solo/Duo
The MMR most people mean. Drives your visible rank and LP. Use LP from Solo/Duo games only.
Ranked · LPRanked Flex
Separate MMR and rank. Premade groups make it swing more, so give it more games before trusting it.
Ranked · LPNormal games
Hidden MMR with no LP to read it from. It mostly shows in the ranks of the players you get matched with.
UnrankedARAM
Its own hidden MMR on the Howling Abyss. Because there is no LP, only the lobby you get gives hints.
Unranked
What happens to my MMR at the season reset, with decay and when I dodge?
A season reset softly pulls your MMR toward the middle, decay lowers your rank but not your skill, and dodging costs LP but never MMR.
Season reset
Your rank drops and your MMR is squeezed toward average. Expect large LP swings in your first games while it re-settles.
Every seasonDecay
Diamond and above lose LP when inactive. Your MMR ends up above your rank, so you climb back faster.
Diamond+Dodging
No game, no MMR change. You lose some LP and take a queue lockout that grows with repeat dodges.

LoL MMR questions
Short answers to what players ask most about MMR, LP and ranked.
How do I check my MMR in League of Legends?
Riot doesn't show MMR in the client, on op.gg-style sites or through its public API, so every MMR checker is an estimate. The most reliable signal you have is the LP you gain per win versus the LP you lose per loss. Type your Riot ID in the checker above and we estimate it in one click from your rank and last 20 ranked games. Adding your LP per win and loss makes it sharper.
Is MMR the same as Elo in LoL?
Not exactly. League used a visible Elo rating until Season 3, then replaced it with tiers, divisions and LP while keeping a hidden Elo-style rating underneath. That hidden rating is what players now call MMR, and many still say "Elo" when they mean it.
Why do I lose more LP than I gain?
Because your MMR is lower than the average MMR of players at your rank. The system expects you to drop, so losses cost more and wins pay less. Win more than you lose for a while and your MMR rises, which brings your LP gains back up.
Do Solo/Duo and Flex share the same MMR?
No. Solo/Duo, Flex, Normal games and ARAM each have their own MMR. Doing well in Flex won't raise your Solo/Duo MMR, so check each queue separately with the queue switch in the tool.
Does dodging a lobby lower my MMR?
No. A dodge happens before the game starts, so there is no win or loss to change your MMR. You do lose some LP and get a queue lockout that grows if you keep dodging.
Does MMR reset every season?
It gets a soft reset. At the start of a new ranked season Riot pulls everyone's MMR toward the middle, which is why placement and early games swing more LP than usual. Your old MMR still influences where you start.
Does LP decay lower my MMR?
Decay only hits Diamond and above, and it takes LP and divisions off your visible rank when you stop playing. It's there to push inactive players back into games, so after decaying most players win LP back faster than usual because their MMR is higher than their new rank.
How accurate is this LoL MMR checker?
It's as accurate as the numbers you put in. Use the LP from your last few games, not a single outlier, and add your games played so the confidence level is right. After 50 or more games in a split the LP gap is a strong signal of your MMR.
